It is with great pride that Jenny and I are serving as Co-Chairs for the Iowa City Signature Chefs Auction to benefit March of Dimes. This wonderful event is a showcase for some of the finest chefs in our corridor, and is a fun and unforgettable way to support the March of Dimes and their mission to give all babies a healthy start. This event features fabulous cuisine, an exciting live auction, and will provide an exceptional evening among friends and colleagues.
In 2005, March of Dimes touched our family when Jenny developed severe pre-eclampsia at just 34 weeks gestation, forcing us to deliver our baby 6 weeks early via emergency C-section. Our daughter, Ava, was born on July 21st weighing only 3 lbs 3 oz. We were terrified not knowing if our baby girl would fully develop, whether she would have lifelong complications from her early arrival, or if she would even be able to breathe on her own. The first time we saw our tiny girl, she was hooked up to monitors and a feeding tube. No one prepares you for that first look at a premature baby, let alone your own child. We felt helpless. We spent 3 weeks in the NICU, watching Ava grow and develop. Thanks to the March of Dimes and medical advancements, Ava received excellent care while in the NICU and is now a beautiful, healthy, thriving young girl!
Personally and professionally, we support March of Dimes in honor of our children, Ava and Landon, as well as countless others who have dealt with the struggles of premature birth. We strongly believe in the life-saving mission of the March of Dimes. That is why we are requesting your financial support today. We ask you to consider giving a meaningful gift to the March of Dimes in order to help us reach our personal fundraising goal of $10,000. Jenny and I sincerely thank you for your generosity in supporting our leadership role as we raise critical funds and awareness for an organization we whole-heartedly believe in.
